My new journey

As many of you know, I am planning on moving to Terre Haute in August. I am wanting to attend Indiana State University to get a bachelors in Chemistry. I know, I know, chemistry is hard. I'm excited and nervous at the same time.

A few weeks ago, I had a yard sale to raise money in order to attend college. This past weekend, I drove to Indiana to register for classes, making a stop in Ohio to see my brother. I made enough money for gas. That's ok though, because I do have some money saved up in the bank.

Well, I am posting today to tell you about the weekend I just had. I will be posting more about my adventures with school and the move. Hopefully it will be entertaining enough to bring you back, lol.

My brother came into town from Ohio a couple of weeks ago and before he came, he asked me if I could take his brother in law back to Ohio when I visited. Of course I said yes, because that is how I roll. FYI: generally when my brother visits, he brings his wife and her brother along with him. She has a sister here, so her brother likes to visit with them in order to see his sister and some friends that live in the area. :-)

Well, Friday comes and I leave the house to pick Josh (the brother in law) up. With it being tourist season, it took me about two hours to drive through the tunnel, round trip. It put me back a little farther than I had wanted, but I didn't mind too much. He had offered to help with driving as the day went on, so it was fine because I knew that I had help. I try to avoid driving after dark. I'm weird, I know.

Well, to move along, We get to Ohio safely around 11:30. It's about an 8 hour trip. All is well.

Monday morning, I wake up around 1AM so that I could get my things together. It was a 5.5hr to 6hr drive from my brothers house to Terre Haute and I wanted to be able to get there to look at apartments before registering for classes. My brother said he'd go with me, and we left around 2:30.

The beginning of the drive was a little scary. For one, I was awake, but still felt a little groggy because it was so early. The fog on the road was ridiculous, especially since it was pitch black out. I could barely see very far in front of me, and being unfamiliar with the roads, I didn't really know where the curves were or where to expect them. I remember thinking the whole time, "please, sun, you need to come up now". I figured with the sun up, it would help the visibility drastically. Soon though, the sun did rise and the fog went away.

About an hour before we got to Indianapolis, I began to see lightening in the distance. It was almost back to back. As we drew closer, the rain hit us hard. I could hear the sound of hail slamming onto the car. Again, I was faced with low visibility, but I drove on. I knew that we would get past the un-welcomed weather and it would be sunny again.

Upon merging onto the 70 to drive towards Terre Haute, we left Indianapolis and the rain behind us. I was thankful to see the hail and rain fade away as I drove towards what will be my future.

I will be posting more on my day in Terre Haute at another time. Keep your eyes posted for the joys of the day and the frustration of decisions. It will be filled with advice, locals, the 41 and much more. Stay tuned! :-)

CB Select - New Line by Castle Baths

Castle Baths is introducing a new product line, CB Select, this year. It will include 12 of the most popular scents around the world. “I was in a beauty store in Vermont and asked the sales associate what their most popular scent was at that time.” Laura recalls, “She looked at me and said it was Eucalyptus.” Eucalyptus is a scent that both men and women enjoy. Laura continues to say “I purchased a bottle of Eucalyptus bubble bath to try. My husband seems to spend more time in the bath with it than I do!” Ever since, her mind was being flooded with ideas as to how she would introduce Eucalyptus in Castle Baths.

In the first week of January, Eucalyptus was introduced on the Castle Baths website. Currently, the scent comes as a bath salt that will enchant anyone using it, even those walking past the bathroom. It has the tendency to be deemed a sensual and sexy scent. It allows couples to be drawn together and gives them a chance to add some romance in their lives.

Eucalyptus has also been known to revitalize a fatigue body. Its scent entraps your whole being and gives you the uplift that you may need. Sara, one of our customers, emailed us after receiving the Eucalyptus salts. “Last week, I was feeling a little down as I sometimes do before that time of the month,” She explained, “I felt at my wits end. I drew a warm bath and added a handful of the Eucalyptus salts. Within minutes, I could feel myself becoming more aware and happier. It was just what I needed!”

Eucalyptus is an amazing scent that has so many purposes. It can also help one that has a cold or sinus infection. We all know this is a little weird, but it’s true! How can one scent be both sexy and help relieve cold symptoms? Eucalyptus can even help with muscle aches and cramps. It is wonderful in every sense of the word.

Castle Baths has a sale running this month to introduce the Eucalyptus salts. If a customer spends $100.00 before taxes and shipping, then they will automatically add in a 16oz Eucalyptus salt to the order, free of charge. This only applies to items purchased from the CB Classic and CB Spa lines. That basically means everything on the site except for the pet line. “I generally run sales separate with the pet line.” Laura explains, “I have a sale within the pet line for pet owners.”

Designer Pet Products - From Castle Baths

A little insight on the Anna Line from Castle Baths.

Not only is Anna the name of the pet line here at Castle Baths, but Anna is also the name of a breeder and a cat. Breeder Anna is a woman who shared the same dream as Laura. To produce and show an odd-eye or blue eye bi-color Persian, and then to continue producing them. They met some time in the mid-90's through email and phone contact when Laura was just beginning to enter into the world of purebred Persians. However, it was some time before it was known that the two shared a dream.

In 2003, Jacob was born. He is a brown tabby and white, with something very unique. He had odd eyes. For those that may be unsure of what that is, It simply means one eye is blue and the other is copper. I am sure you are asking what the big deal is because it's been seen before. Jacob was the first odd eye bicolor Persian to grand in CFA. Before this, the only Persians that were noticed as having odd eyes or blue eyes were solid whites. It had not been done with bi-color Persians before.

In 2004, Breeder Anna passed away. Her closest friends and family saw the same dream in Laura and decided to pass along a male of Anna's named Mud to her. He was nicknamed Mud because no matter how many times you bathed him, he still managed to get dirty. He would stick his whole face into the food and water bowls.

In 2005, Mud fathered a kitten that would become the first blue eyed bicolor. When the kittens eyes opened and it was noted that they were both blue, It was instantly decided that this little kitten would be named after Anna. She was a beautiful calico that knew she was something special. As she grew into a gorgeous feline, it became apparent that she was the key.

Her first show, she stunned fellow breeders. She made judges stop and take a second look, and sometimes a third into the rule book. Some said that Laura had simply gotten lucky. They even said that it was a once in a lifetime and probably wouldn’t happen again. Others were amazed and came by often to look because they couldn’t believe their eyes.

Little did they know that Laura had a secret. A litter had been born. A little red and white male was a part of the litter and he too, had two blue eyes. His name was registered as Purrinlot Eye Believe, for if we had not believed, this would never have occurred. He was a beautiful cat that would also grow and be the foundation, along with Anna, to a wonderful new thing that was said to be impossible.

Anna went on to be famous, and everyone wanted to see her, touch her, and to have her. Laura decided that she would give a little bit of Anna to everyone that wanted her. She designed the pet line with her in mind. Right down to the label. The label on every grooming product Castle Baths has is a picture of one of Anna’s blue eyes. This being said, Anna was the perfect name to the line, and a perfect finish on a fantastic dream.

As Anna and Eye Believe grew and started to breed, they began to start a whole new revolution that would continue to shock cat breeders alike and begin a frenzy.

Two minds, one dream, one result.

Anna's Grooming Powder by Castle Baths

I was sitting in the CB lab this morning finishing up with the bottling process for the grooming powder and I thought, "I haven't blogged in a little while, What should I blog about?" Then it hit me, I can easily take pictures of what I was currently doing and show my readers what I do from day to day. So, That is exactly what I began doing, taking pictures. A few snaps later, I realized that I was having a little too much fun taking pictures and that I could really start doing this. Of course it would be mixed in with the regular postings about skin care, but this could be something fun and interesting.

First, it starts out with the product, bottle, lid and protective wrap. I am not really sure if you can see it, but the protective wrap is laying across the lid.

After I get the proper amount of protective wrap out, I proceed to place them over the bottles as shown in this picture. I do this and place them all on at once so that when I go to the next step, I won't have to do a stop and go process, instead it can be go, go, go.

I then pull out my handy dandy hair dryer and proceed to add heat to the plastic wrap. This causes it to shrink and wrap tightly around the bottle. This way, during shipment, it is less likely that the bottle will open, allowing the product to go everywhere. It also helps keep moisture out, allowing for safer handling.

Here is the finished product, and it's location on the shelf, waiting to be pulled and shipped to our customers.

Photography and logo

Castle Baths launched a new logo yesterday and I decided to share it with you guys.

This image was actually inspired by a photographer by the name of Alex Koloskov. The left side of the logo, where you see the CB is actually a picture he had taken of a water drop, and as you can see, the splatter actually looks like it is in the shape of a crown! It goes along with our company in two ways. The crown is castle like and the water drop goes along with a bath. It's actually pretty neat when you think of it that way.

On another note, the contest we had on Facebook was a success. We named a winner of the giveaway. So, if you are connected with the fan page on there, go check to see if you are the winner!

Love the skin your in!

Taking care of one’s skin can be simple. It’s as easy as using the right products and taking the extra 5 minutes to use those products right. More times than not, people are stumped with how to properly use a product. This may be the cause of lack of proper instruction on the label or lack of understanding. There is also the whole idea of if this product works for someone else, will it still work for me?

Everyone’s skin is different and requires different things to remain healthy and vibrant. So, how do you really know what works and what doesn’t? The answer is simple. Look for companies that offer free samples of their face products and grab a few of them. Usually there is a small fee that would cover postage, but it’s worth trying before you buy.

Generally speaking, natural and organic products are better for the skin. It helps bring out the best in your skin and gives you the overall feeling of happiness and good health. Castle Baths is a good example of a company that has a strong value system in place with using these types of products. Everything they create is 100% natural, cruelty free, and made with others in mind.

Skin Care

Water has a major effect on how your skin looks and feels. It is used on a daily basis to cleanse the body, both inside and out. We drink water to hydrate our bodies and to flush out our system. We also use it in conjunction with products to clean our skin. So, how does water affect our skin?

Before water has a chance to run through your faucets, it goes through a series of filtering stages. This is a required process by the local government in your area to ensure that water is safe. But be mindful of any chemicals that may be in your water. Although there is a set filtration process, machines aren’t entirely perfect. The best way to find these numbers is to contact the water service department in your town or city.

When bathing, water that is too hot can be damaging to your skin. It draws out the moisture from your skin and causes it to be dry. This can make it itchy and irritated. The best temperature to use is warm water. Not too cold and not too hot.
