PETA , safe for animals or slaughterhouse?

After countless advertisements against cruelty to animals and criticizing Americans for drinking milk or eating meat, is PETA really an organization that puts animals first? They continually advertise that Americans who hunt, wear leather, and support animal testing are wrong for their lifestyles and beliefs.

Many Americans believe that PETA is an organization that treats the animals it takes in with the utmost care and gives them a second chance at life by finding them adoptive homes. But is this really the case? If you are one of those who believe it is, I advise you to continue reading.

The ironic truth is that PETA kills more than they save. They are the true ones that practice unethical treatment towards animals, not the Americans that they claim are doing it. They have a walk in freezer that stores hundreds, sometimes thousands, of dead cats and dogs that they have put down. This is a temporary home to these poor creatures until they are able to be cremated.

Instead of spending the millions of dollars they receive in donations and other means to care for these animals until they finds homes, they advertise against cruelty, buy huge freezers, and have banquets.

Want some numbers? I am about to give those to you.

In 2009, PETA housed 2,366 pets. Out of the 2,366 living and breathing cats and dogs, 8 were adopted. A mere 8!! What happened to the rest of them? They were put down and stored in the freezer locker waiting to be cremated. This is outrageous. That comes to about 97% that were put down.

An SPCA shelter in Virginia Beach, VA was able to find homes for most of the pets they were caring for, and they have a smaller budget than PETA. So why is PETA killing more than they are giving homes for?

Bottom line? PETA kills animals. Still not believing it? Check out these documents, provided by the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services in Richmond, VA.
